Telstra on Wednesday announced it is now offering cloud services to customers in the United States, adding to services already available in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
The US extension will be located on the East Coast and brings the telco’s cloud presence to seven locations throughout the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
Martin Bishop, global head of Telstra’s Network Applications and Services division, said the new US node will enable customers across multiple geographic locations to realise the benefits of enterprise cloud services.
“When it comes to IT projects, we are finding that customers are increasingly opting for cloud-based services and with this expansion, we are even better equipped to serve organisations with operations in the US – be it their long-term headquarters or a new market they are expanding into,” he said in a statement.
According to Bishop, customer applications are delivered over a network that extends across 1,900 points of presence. He said the network adapts to the specific profile of customer applications and workloads.
Telstra’s cloud business has been growing strongly over the past two years. Last August, the telco said revenue from cloud services was up 33.3 per cent. Revenue from its NAS division increased by 17.7 per cent to $1.5 billion.
