Telecommunications provider Pacnet is consolidating three data centres in Melbourne into a caged suite at NextDC’s (ASX:NXT) Melbourne 1 (M1) facility.
The suite will house around 100 racks containing Pacnet data. The company said the data centre consolidation will create "operational efficiencies" for its Australian network.
“Coupled with our Sydney CloudSpace1 [SYCS1] data centre and network, this new footprint will enable Pacnet to offer geographically diverse co-location facilities underpinned by major network services to the Australian market for domestic and international solutions,” said Pacnet Australia CEO Nigel Stitt.
According to NextDC CEO Craig Scroggie, the addition of Pacnet diversifies the service provider offering within its M1 data centre and will give customers greater reach into international markets.
Pacnet has been contacted for more information by Computerworld Australia.
