Internode, iiNet to live stream selected Gorgeous Festival performances

Missy Higgins, Dan Sultan and The Preatures can be viewed via the ISPs content delivery network on Saturday, November 24, 2012 .

Punters who can’t make it to the Gorgeous Festival in McLaren Vale, South Australia, on November 24 will be able to view main stage performances for free in HD if they are an Internode or iiNet customer.

The ISP group is providing live streaming of performances by artists including Missy Higgins, Dan Sultan and The Preatures through Internode's content delivery network (CDN). The CDN is a network of servers spread across multiple locations designed to deliver content where high performance or high reliability are required.

How do they do IT? Music festivals

The live stream of the Gorgeous Festival can be viewed via Internode’s homepage and iiNet’s FreeZone website. Music lovers who aren’t a customer of the two ISPs will also be able to view the stream but will be subject to metering charges by their service provider.

According to Internode content manager Heidi Angove, all of the main stage performances are fully rights cleared.

“We’re using our broadband network to connect great artists with audiences in a totally legitimate way,” she said in a statement.

“Our content team will record, live-edit and post-produce the Gorgeous Festival performances, which will stay on the Internode and Freezone websites, even after the festival is over.”

Internode also plans to live stream main stage performances during the World of Music Arts and Dance (WOMAD) Adelaide festival from March 8 to 11, 2013.
