Google Nexus 4 hits Australia in November for $349

Google has unveiled the latest Android-equipped Nexus device, the Nexus 4. Australians will be able to order the smartphone, which will run Android 4.2 ('Jelly Bean'), from 13 November.

The LG-manufactured Nexus 4 will be available from Google's Play store for $399 for the version with 16GB of storage; the 8GB version of the Nexus 4 will cost $349.

The phone supports HSPA+, but has no 4G connectivity. It's equipped with a 4.7-inch Gorilla Glass 2 touchscreen that has a resolution of 1280x768 pixels (320 pixels per inch compared to the 326ppi of the iPhone 5's 4-inch display).

The Nexus 4 comes with front and rear cameras (with resolutions of 1.3 megapixels and 8Mp respectively), a Near Field Communications (NFC) chip, 2GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, which has four cores and runs at 1.5GHz. The phone includes built in wireless charging when used with a compatible charging mat.

Australians will also be able to order the Nexus 10 Android tablet from 13 November. The 16GB version will be available for $469 from the Play store; the 32GB version will cost $569.

Neither version of the 10-inch tablet offers 3G. The Nexus 10, which like the Nexus 4 runs Jelly Bean, has a 10-inch, 2560x1600 (300ppi) Gorilla Glass 2 display and runs a dual-core A15 CPU and a Mali T604 GPU. The NFC-equipped tablet has 2GB of RAM and dual cameras, and weighs a shade over 600 grams (compared to the approximately 650 grams of the fourth generation iPad).
