Ongoing demand for storage offerings in Australia and New Zealand has attracted the attention of Silicon Valley-head quartered vendor, Nimble Storage.

According to Nimble's Asia-Pacific vice president, Peter O’Connor, storage data growth is exceeding 50 per cent per annum in A/NZ.

“Flash storage changes everything, and new companies like Nimble are better poised to build much more effective customer solutions than aging incumbents who have more complex, expensive legacy systems,” he said.

O’Connor, who spent six years at NetApp, said the vendor had also hired an Asia-Pacific director of marketing, Gavin Cohen, and A/NZ director of sales, Rob Barton.

In addition, the company plans to hire five more APAC staff by the end of October 2012.

“Based on the experiences of Nimble’s business in the US and Europe, combined with the amazing response we’ve had from A/NZ customers, I expect our business growth will be rapid, and our staff numbers will need to grow quickly to match customer demand,” O’Connor said.

He added that the vendor planned to target the enterprise space with storage offerings that utilise Hyper-V and applications such as Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint.

“We will work with cloud and service providers who will sell our storage solutions as services,” O’Connor said.
