Virgin Mobile announces 4G, will sell Galaxy S III 4G

Australian mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Virgin Mobile has announced the immediate availability of 4G network coverage and revealed revealed it will sell the Samsung Galaxy S III 4G smartphone.
Virgin Mobile uses the Optus network in Australia and therefore offers the same network coverage. Yesterday, Optus officially launched its 4G network in Sydney, Perth and Newcastle with 4G services in Melbourne starting from September 15.
As part of the new 4G coverage, Virgin Mobile will sell Samsung's Galaxy S III 4G smartphone which will be available in "late September".
"We know our customers use their phones more than ever for data and this launch will provide our customers with faster downloads and seriously quick mobile internet," said David Scribner, Virgin Mobile's marketing director. "The launch of 4G is another step in delivering on our commitment to a fair go for all."
The Galaxy S III 4G was officially announced by Samsung this week. It is virtually identical to the regular, 3G version with the exception of LTE 1800MHz network capability. This crucial LTE network band allows the Galaxy S III 4G to work on both the Optus and Telstra 4G networks in Australia.
Like Optus, Virgin Mobile will only sell the "titanium grey" variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III 4G. The company says the Galaxy S III 4G will be available in "late September" and promises to ship the phone to customers who pre-order "as soon as it's in stock."
Virgin will sell the Galaxy S III 4G smartphone on five post-paid plans, including the hero offer of $7 per month on the Fair Go Bro $59 plan over 24 months, a total of $66 per month. This plan includes $700 of call credit, 3GB of data, unlimited text messages and free voicemail.
The Samsung Galaxy S III 4G will become the first smartphone to launch on the new Optus 4G network in mid-September. It will then be available through Telstra sometime in October.
