Telstra launches customer apps for Facebook, iPhone, Android

Telstra 24x7 apps let customers pay bills, access 24/7 online support

New apps from Telstra allow customers to manage their accounts on Facebook or an iPhone or Android device.

The Telstra 24x7 Facebook app lets customers monitor usage, track bills and access customer support, without logging on to Telstra.com. Telstra said its staff would respond to Facebook posts "within the hour."

“More than half of all Australians are regular Facebook users and our customers now expect access to services from companies like Telstra in the places they spend social time online," said Telstra digital executive director, Gerd Schenkel.

The Telstra 24x7 iPhone and Android apps provide customers access to usage, bills and support — including Live Chat, Twitter, Facebook and the customer forum CrowdSupport. The apps are free and available to download from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

The mobile apps display current and past bills, and allow users to pay bills through their mobile device and manage their email bill delivery settings. Users can view estimated usage for their mobile or “selected” BigPond broadband plans. The apps can also locate the nearest Telstra store and 24/7 online support.

Prepaid customers can additionally check their balance, recharge their service and purchase Telstra Plus Pack extras like international roaming or extra data.

Telstra launched its 24x7 app for iPad in April.

We found, for instance, that 91% of targeted attacks involve spear-phishing emails, reinforcing the belief that spear phishing is a primary means by which APT attackers infiltrate target networks.
