iPhone 5 to put Galaxy S III to shame, Foxconn CEO says

Also less than complementary about Samsung

Samsung might seem like its own worst enemy with this week's choppy U.S. rollout of the hot new Android-powered Galaxy S III smartphone, but the top executive at iPhone maker Foxconn in China holds that title for now.

Earlier this week, Foxconn CEO Terry Gou was quoted in The China Times (translated by Focus Taiwan) as saying the iPhone 5 would put the Galaxy S III to shame. He also referred to Samsung as "a company with a track record of snitching on its competitors", referring to a Tawainese flat panel price-fixing scandal from a couple years back.

Apple and Samsung relations are tense, as the companies have been at each other's throats in court with assorted patent infringement claims, and Apple has attempted to prevent Samsung from selling the Galaxy S III in the United States.

The Galaxy S III began rolling out through T-Mobile and Sprint in the United States today, and the 4G LTE device is set for delivery through AT&T and Verizon next month. Though reports of short supplies mean some hopeful early adopters have had to wait to get their hands on the phone.
