Gartner, CSIRO and former Deutsche Bank head of IT join NSW ICT panel

NSW finance minister touts panel as helping develop state ICT strategy

The NSW government has announced the members of the state's NSW Information Communications and Technology Industry Advisory Panel, including IT managers, Gartner analysts and a CSIRO research director.

NSW minister for finance and services, Greg Pearce, said the members were selected out of hundreds of applicants from a variety of sectors.

“This is a high calibre group with extensive experience within government, research institutions and the private sector in Australia and internationally,” Pearce said.

“Almost 200 applicants were received for the industry advisory panel including CEOs, CIOs, chairpersons, and managing directors of some of the biggest ICT firms and research institutions in the world.”

Panel members include the Deutsche Bank’s head of information and enterprise services John Baird, who was also announced as the independent chair earlier this month, Gartner group vice-president Warren Anderson, CSG’s general manager of the technology solutions division, Barry Dietrich, and the director of the CSIRO ICT Centre, Dr Ian Oppermann.

Pearce said the group has multiple skill sets and will have direct input in developing the state government’s ICT strategy.

“The members of the group will be tasked with ensuring that prevailing and emerging technologies are effectively aligned with agency and whole of government objectives,” he said.

“There will also be opportunities to participate through working groups which will be established to implement the NSW government’s ICT strategy.”
