NBN Co chief financial officer, Jean-Pascal Beaufret, has resigned from the role, effective from January 2012, amid a company management restructure.
NBN Co chief executive, Mike Quigley, said former Alcatel employee, Beaufret, would retire in January once the company had found a replacement.
“Jean-Pascal has been an invaluable asset for NBN Co in developing our corporate plan and establishing robust financial systems,” Quigley said.
“On behalf of all of us at NBN Co, we wish him well and thank him for his invaluable contribution.”
Beaufret was front and centre with Quigley amid controversy last year surrounding Alcatel-Lucent’s involvement in the National Broadband Network rollout as due to both being former employees of the company.
Quigley was this year forced to defend his involvement in the further controversy surrounding his previous employer’s $US137 million settlement for bribery cases brought on by US authorities.
According to Quigley, the new management structure would result in seven departments reporting directly to him.
Chief operating officer will encompass newly appointed head of construction, Dan Flemming; network operations’ Steve Christian; planning and design’s Peter Ferris; chief information officer, Claire Rawlins; new developments’ Archie Wilson; health safety and environment’s Kim Flanagan and local community relations, managed by Mike Kaiser.
Under the shake-up, the company’s principal of government relations and external affairs, Kaiser, will also take on the new role of “head of quality” to implement a new “quality” framework.
Head of product management and industry relations, Jim Hassell, will take on additional responsibilities, including pricing, revenue and industry analysis, while Kieran Cooney will take on the chief communications officer role.
Cooney, who joined the company last November, will head up a national consumer information campaign dedicated to educating consumers on the shift from copper to fibre infrastructure.
Corporate services has also been shuffled to include commercial affairs and the definitive agreements with Optus and Telstra.
As a result of the changes, head of industry engagement, Christy Boyce, will leave the company.
