Steve Burrell swaps AICD for Internet Industry Association

The Internet Industry Association (IIA) has confirmed a replacement chief executive officer following the impeding retirement of Peter Coroneos on 30 June after 13 years with the association.
Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) communications and public affairs general manager, Steve Burrell, will join the IIA in September after two years with the AICD.
Trained as an economist at the University of Sydney and the Australian National University, Burrell was also a policy adviser in the Federal Treasury.
In a statement, Burrell said that he would be doing his best to make sure that the industry’s voice was "heard clearly" at a Federal Government level in Canberra as well as overseas.
IIA chair, Bruce Linn, said that the Association was at an inflection point in its 15 year development where the complex issues of Internet policy had become centre stage in the Digital Economy. "Having someone of Steve's experience to fill the large shoes of Peter Coroneos is critical to the associations continued development and that of the industry we serve."
Outgoing chief executive, Peter Coroneos, who led the Association's development of an iCode, a voluntary code of practice for Australian internet service providers to improve cybersecurity for their customers and networks, has not announced where he would head to next but in an interview with Computerworld Australia in February 2011 he said that he would take some time out to "go surfing".
“After this length of time I think it’s good for the organisation to have a renewal and I’m ready to try something else," said Coroneos at the time.

A Governance Guide for Hybrid SharePoint Migrations
Cloud-based computing represents a powerful new option for managing enterprise content, offering increased flexibility, efficiency, and reduced cost for IT infrastructure, data storage, and applications. This white paper, written by Chris Beckett from SharePoint Bits, discusses some of the benefits and risks of hybrid SharePoint deployments, and presents governance considerations that are essential for ensuring a successful migration. -
Optimised Data Protection for VMware® Environments with Symantec NetBackup™ Appliances

This white paper discusses in more detail how VMware environments can be protected with the NetBackup appliances. Read more. -
