Connector integrates Open-Xchange with SugarCRM

E-mails can be imported to SugarCRM leads thanks to the new software add-on

A new connector for open-source collaboration platform Open-Xchange provides integration with SugarCRM, allowing for contact and calendar information to be synchronized between the two products, Open-Xchange said on Monday.

Besides contact and calendar information, Open-Xchange e-mails can be imported to SugarCRM leads, opportunities and accounts, according to Open-Xchange. In its quest to differentiate from Microsoft's Exchange platform, Open-Xchange also provides integration with LinkedIn and Facebook, contact information from which will now also become available in SugarCRM, the company said.

Open-Xchange and SugarCRM are open-source applications that can be installed on a server or be offered as a hosted service in the cloud. Users can decide whether to run one or both applications in-house or as a service from the cloud. The software connector, which has been developed by Digitec, can handle the exchange of data in all possible combinations, Open-Xchange said.

The Digitec OXtender for SugarCRM is installed with Open-Xchange, and no client software or plug-ins are needed for the integration to work, according to Open-Xchange.

The integration between Open-Xchange and SugarCRM will be demonstrated at user and developer conference SugarCon 2011, which takes place Monday through Wednesday in San Francisco.
