WA Dept of Transport seeks CIO

The new CIO will fill the role for a fixed four month period to lead a comprehensive strategic information plan

The Western Australian Department of Transport is calling for applications to fill the role of CIO for a fixed four month period to lead a comprehensive strategic information plan.

The role, advertised on Seek, will lead the implementation of information management and technology plans as well as advising senior executives and management, as well as stakeholders, on information systems, technology, policies and standards.

The successful applicant will receive an annual salary between $124,000 and $133,000 plus superannuation in exchange for guiding the strategic direction of the agency. The new CIO will understand emerging technology issues and trends and have the skills to implement strategic policies and anticipate and respond to risk.

“Transport's key focus is delivering high quality and integrated strategic transport planning and policy across the range of public and commercial transport systems that service the State,” the advertisement read.

Applications close on Tuesday 29 March 2011 at 11:45 pm.

NSW Department of Transport CIO, John Thomas, recently joined the agency in September last year, following a stint at the Roads and Traffic Authority for a number of years.

In July last year, Queensland’s Department of Main Roads and Transport was on the hunt for a permanent CIO as part of a change in the department's ICT process management, following the merger of the state's Main Roads and Transport departments in March 2009.

Join the CIO Australia group on LinkedIn. The group is open to CIOs, IT Directors, COOs, CTOs and senior IT managers.
