NSW parly porn scandal won't go to police

An audit that found NSW parliament computers had been used to access websites containing sexually explicit images of young people will not be referred to police.
The IT audit by Ernst & Young, made public on December 2, suggested children may have been depicted on the nine adult websites accessed from November last year to September 2010.
The websites contained sexually explicit images of young people "whose precise age is reportedly difficult to determine", leading Speaker Richard Torbay to seek legal advice.
On Thursday, Mr Torbay and upper house president Amanda Fazio said they had received advice that there was "no legal obligation to refer the information in the report to the NSW Police Force".
"The Parliament considers that this concludes the matter," they said in a statement.
The Ernst & Young audit found that of the 72 most popular sites accessed on parliamentary computers over 10 months, 35 appeared to be adult-related.
The audit was commissioned in the wake of the internet porn revelations which caused the resignation of ports minister Paul McLeay in September.
The Ernst & Young investigation was sparked by an unauthorised audit of computer usage in the parliament, which revealed gambling and adult sites had been accessed in some MPs' offices.
Mr McLeay stood down before the details of that first audit were made public.
It was also revealed the office of Christian Democratic MP Fred Nile had recorded 200,000 suspect hits, which the anti-pornography campaigner defended as "for research purposes".

Improving performance and availability was the key driver of consolidation efforts for 85% of those surveyed. -
Guidance for Calculation of Efficiency (PUE) in Data Centers
The benefits of determining data center infrastructure efficiency as part of an effective energy management plan are widely recognised. The standard metrics of Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and its reciprocal Data Center Infrastructure Efficiency1 (DCIE) have emerged as recognised standards. This paper defines a standard approach to collecting data from data centers and showing how to use it to calculate PUE, with a focus on what to do with data that is confusing or incomplete.
