Atlassian to invest $10 million in NSW ICT jobs in 2010-11

The Australian software development company has been named 2010 Premier’s NSW Exporter of the Year

Australian software development company, Atlassian, has announced it will invest $10 million in the creation of ICT jobs in Sydney in 2010-11.

The announcement follows Atlassian's being named as the 2010 Premier’s NSW Exporter of the Year.

The awards acknowledge the contribution of businesses to the economy through job creation and increased prosperity for the community and for the state.

Atlassian chief executive and co-founder, Mike Cannon-Brookes, said he was proud of the award and its recognition of the company's contribution to job creation and growth for New South Wales.

“Most new jobs will be created in Sydney where we’re hiring an additional 40 IT staff members,” Atlassian HR director, Joris Luijke, said in a statement. “We’re also expanding our workforce in Europe and San Francisco.”

As reported by Computerworld Australia, Atlassian recently made its first buy since taking $60 million in venture capital investment in July, picking up Bitbucket.org, a free code hosting site with some 60,000 users.

The national winner will be announced at the national ceremony on 1 December 2010, in Sydney.
