Cloud-based source code host adds Git

Currently in beta, Codesion Git Service offers enterprise-friendly access to Git

Codesion, which offers hosted source code management, has added the Git distributed version control system to its services, the company said this week.

The company enables users to host code repositories, including Subversion and CVS. Developers can use "best of breed" development tools with Codesion, said company CEO Guy Marion. These repositories are deployed to cloud platforms such as Amazon Elastic Compute Service (EC2).

"Rather than setting up an in-house version control system, [users] store their projects directly with us," Marion said.

Currently in beta, Codesion Git Service allows for enterprise-friendly access to Git, with role-based controls and IP white-listing capabilities, Marion said.

Git, he said, is becoming popular because of its association with Linux and its speed, said Marion. Git was authored by Linux founder Linus Torvalds, Marion noted.

Codesion Git Service is included with the rest of Codesion's services. The Professional  Edition of Codesion's services, designed for businesses with security and uptime needs, starts in price at $99 per month for the first five users.
