Leighton Contractors appoints new MD

Leighton Holdings, Craig Laslett

Leighton Holdings Ltd says Craig Laslett has been appointed managing director of Leighton Contractors to begin after Peter McMorrow retires.

Mr McMorrow will retire on September 1, with Mr Laslett, 48, currently Leighton Contractor's executive general manager resources, to move into his role on September 2.

"Mr Laslett will be appointed deputy managing director of Leighton Contractors in the middle of this year, before taking up the position," Leighton said in a statement on Thursday.

Mr Laslett has worked for Leighton Contractors for 27 years and has extensive construction and mining experience across Australia.

Michael Metcalfe will be appointed deputy managing director, effective from September 2, in addition to his responsibilities as executive general manager of the Construction Division.

Mr McMorrow will continue to remain involved with the company and will take up a position as executive chairman of Broad Group Holdings, a construction and property development company 90 per cent owned by Leighton Contractors.
