NBN Co ponders capability statements

Company charged with NBN rollout works through the statements for the supply of FTTP-related equipment and services

NBN Co, the company in charge of the Federal Government’s $43 billion National Broadband Network (NBN) has announced it received many “high-quality” responses to its request for capability statements for the supply of infrastructure.

In a statement, the NBN Co said it is working through the statements for the supply of fibre-to-the-premises-related equipment and services, the first in a series addressing different elements.

The company expects a short-list to be finalised by the end of the month.

NBN Co will invite selected suppliers to participate in one or more formal request for proposal processes during the first quarter of this year.

The news from NBN Co comes as many in the industry generate buzz on the NBN and the migration to IPv6.

In December, it was revealed Leighton Holdings-owned Nextgen Networks has won a contract to rollout backbone transmission points to 100 access points as part of the Regional Backbone Blackspots Program.

Check out a slideshow of where the backbone fibre will be laid.

The official NBN Co website is due to launch later this month, but visitors can already view basic information on the interim site and also search for a job with the new entity.

NBN Co will progressively issue further request for capability statements.
